Congratulations to Our Confirmation Candidates

On Saturday, 20th September, many of our Year 6 students celebrated a very special milestone in their faith journey as they received the Sacrament of Confirmation. We thank Father Richard Thompson for making the evening one to remember.

The school community prays that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide and inspire you and encourage each of you to share the gifts you have received brightly in the St Joseph’s community.

Acts of Charity

In the Catholic Church, charity is more than simply giving to others — it is the greatest expression of love. Founded in Jesus’ command to “love one another,” charity calls us to see the face of Christ in every person and to respond with generosity, kindness, and compassion. It is through acts of charity that we live out our faith, strengthen our community, and bring God’s love into the world.

At St Joseph’s, we encourage everyone to live out their faith through simple acts of charity. By lending a hand to a friend or classmate, showing kindness in everyday activities (opening a door, giving someone a smile) and by raising funds for those in need. An act of charity doesn’t need to be a big thing; it is through our small actions where we can make a big difference to someone. By teaching and practising charity, your children will not only help others, but they will also grow in compassion, empathy, and develop a deeper understanding of how they can bring Christ’s love into the world.

Why not make it a holiday goal to perform an act of charity everyday with your children?

Some acts of charity ideas:

  1. Help set the table or clear the dishes without being asked.
  2. Share toys or games kindly with siblings.
  3. Write a thank-you note or card for a parent, grandparent, or neighbour.
  4. Pray for someone who is sick, lonely, or going through a hard time.
  5. Donate used clothes or toys.
  6. Offer to help with small chores like folding laundry, sweeping, or feeding pets.
  7. Give a compliment to brighten someone’s day.
  8. Save a portion of pocket money to support a charity.
  9. Listen patiently and kindly when others are speaking.
  10. Make a simple drawing or craft to give as a gift of love
